About 2020 Vision

(From the Students)

2020 Vision is a group of dedicated, hard working students who put forth their best efforts into their degree while studying at Southern Arkansas University. Here, you will have the opportunity to view everyone’s artwork from paintings, ceramics and lithographs to the digital world of gaming, including 3D models, animations, simulations, technical arts and more. These brilliant individuals learned teamwork, great communication skills, and even leadership while working on some of their assignments. While these students worked together, they accomplished many tasks. They entered competitions after working on their best piece yet, adapting to any situation to get the job done, and finally publishing their best work out into the world. These students have done more than most and strive forward while gazing at their future with 20/20 vision.

These students are paving the way towards their futures with nothing but success and achievement on their minds. Some will become teachers or mentors to our youth or become famous artists and own their own studios or galleries to express emotion through their work for the public eye. Others will become game artists, working as digital 3D artists, riggers, programmers, texture artists and much more to follow their dreams and provide entertainment with their creations.

As a fellow student here at Southern Arkansas University, I had the opportunity to work and study alongside these bright individuals and even learn from them along the way. I studied game design and learned many new techniques throughout my 4 years here. I worked on teams of three to five, then up to an entire class of 24 students as we built our skills and trained hard, to eventually publish our first game together; “Synthesis, Mind, Body, and Soul.” I learned how to be a great teammate, how to communicate with my fellow students, and how to accept constructive criticism. There is always room to improve ourselves, but the students here at Southern Arkansas University will never stop improving even after we pass our goals. We will become great artists and push ourselves to be even better with each day and every challenge we face. Take a look and see just how far these students have come. This is 2020 Vision.

(From the Faculty)

During this Senior Capstone Review course, work from each student’s academic career is evaluated by faculty for exhibition and compared with professional standards designed to prepare them for a career in the art and design community.

The SAU Art & Design department is very impressed with the effort and grit these seniors have shown during this tumultuous semester. The Spring 2020 Senior Capstone students have had their hands full with the COVID 19 event that has literally affected the entire world. Even with this out-of-no-where circumstance, these visual creators have persevered to create great work while still preparing for graduation and entering the professional world.

Among the 18 students listed above, there are Studio Art majors, Game, Animation & Simulation Design majors, and there are also Communication Design majors. Certain programs at other schools around the country separate each of these majors into their own track for their final Capstone efforts, but at SAU we incorporate the various majors together in one cohort. This unification provides opportunities for collaboration and for students to learn from each other while contributing to each other’s growth.

Normally, the final culmination of this semester’s effort would be a gallery presentation of each student's work in the Brinson Fine Art Gallery accompanied by a gallery opening event for friends, family, and invited professionals. For this semester, the students have adapted to the current events by presenting their work in an online format.

Please enjoy the work displayed here and help us in congratulating the Senior Art & Design class of 2020.

Well done guys! We are really proud of you!
